PV Online Report : City Mayor Bir Muktijoddha Rezaul Karim Chowdhury has asked for the cooperation of all concerned including traders to keep the prices of daily commodities stable during Ramadan.

Addressing a joint meeting at Andarkilla’s KB Abduch Chhattar Auditorium on Thursday, the Mayor said that it is not possible to keep commodity prices stable through law or punishment alone.

For this, the cooperation of all related public and private service organizations including business brothers is necessary. Your cooperation is needed so that ordinary fasting people do not suffer due to increase in the prices of goods during the month of fasting.

If someone tries to increase the price of goods by syndicate, if the government takes any action, Chittagong City Corporation will give maximum support in that action. A special campaign will be conducted on the occasion of fasting against adulterated food, drinks and syndicates. Therefore, I warn the dishonest people, if they hurt people, be prepared for legal action. ‘

In the meeting, Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB), various business organizations and institutions of Chittagong and representatives of the market presented their various complaints, objections and suggestions.

In response, the mayor said that during the month of fasting, not only the price increase but also traffic congestion should be considered. I have rescued many sidewalks and roads. I will be strict to ensure that hawkers do not set up shops in these places again during the month of Ramadan to create chaos. No movement or complaint will be heard in this regard.

CCC Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Muhammad Tauhidul Islam presided over while Chief Revenue Officer and Member Secretary of Market Price Monitoring, Monitoring and Control Committee Mohammad Nazrul Islam, Chairman of Market Price Monitoring, Monitoring and Control Committee Councilor Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Haji Nurul Haque Councilor Hasan Murad Biplab, Abdus Salam Masum, Mayor’s Private Secretary and Chief Cleaning Officer Muhammad Abul Hashem, Police ADC Khaled Hossain, BSTI Deputy Director Md. Mazharul Haque, Assistant Director of Consumer Rights Protection Directorate Chittagong District Nasreen Akhtar, Director of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce Ahid Siraj Chowdhury Swapan, president of various markets of the city, general secretary, CAB representatives were present.
