As a result, the movement of almost all types of ships, including lighter ships, oil tankers engaged in unloading goods from large ships waiting at the outer anchorage of Chittagong port, is being disrupted. Noor Islam (driver) told the media that the workers’ movement will continue until the 10-point demand is not accepted. Shafiqul Islam, convenor of Naujan Sramik Sangam Parishad Chittagong, said that the strike is going on with 10-point demands including minimum salary of Tk 20,000, Tk 10 lakh compensation to the families of the workers who died while working, issue of landing pass under the protocol on the Indian line. Lighter ships, tankers, passenger launches are covered under strike.
