PV Online Report : Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that development after development is happening in the country. This trend will continue. But they are criticizing. Let them criticize, we will respond with action.
He made this comment at a function celebrating the completion of the South Tube of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel on Saturday (November 26) at 10:30 am.
The bridge minister said that metro rail has been planned in Chittagong as well. Apart from this, there are plans to make four lanes on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway as well as two more service lanes. Besides, an initiative has been taken to widen the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar road. I hope to get help from China in this work. Special plans have also been undertaken to develop the Chittagong airport to international standards. Moreover, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s magic leadership has also changed in the hilly areas. After all, Bangladesh is floating in the tide of development. Now our goal is to make the country ‘Smart Bangladesh’ by 2041.
Obaidul Quader also said that there is no more development left in Chittagong. Hon’ble Prime Minister felt magical pull regarding Chittagong. There are many old leaders here. Many are not alive now. Many local leaders demanded the construction of the tunnel. Speaking as a special guest, Chinese Ambassador Li Ziming said, “We are proud to be involved in this big project. Not only the tunnel but also the name of China is associated with various big projects of Bangladesh. China was also involved in the Padma Bridge which was inaugurated a few days ago. I think Bangladesh’s relationship with China will be stronger.
Secretary of the Council of Ministers Khandkar Anwarul Islam joined the program virtually and said that initially the Chinese government did not agree to help in the construction of the tunnel. But due to the unconventional diplomacy of the honorable Prime Minister, the Chinese government agreed. When we discussed with China during Prime Minister’s visit to China, they did not agree.
But later that night at the dinner table, the Prime Minister’s diplomatic skills managed to convince the Chinese government. Later, the tunnel agreement was signed with a late night dinner.
