PV Online Report : An initiative has been taken to run trains on the Cox’s Bazar route by repairing the old Kalurghat bridge. For this, ferry service is being started in Karnaphuli river under Kalurghat bridge as before.
The concerned contractor has been sent for the Ministry’s approval to issue work orders by inviting tenders for the operation of the ferry service. Road Transport and Highways Department Secretary ABM Amin Ullah Noori visited the Kalurghat Bridge on the evening of September 19 for the launch of ferry service at Kalurghat (Karnaphuli River). At this time, he visited the relevant place of ferry service and announced the opening of ferry service in November. Since then, Chittagong Roads and Public Paths Department has invited tenders for the ferry service.
In this regard, Pintu Chakma, Executive Engineer of Roads and Public Ways Department Chittagong, said that we have invited tenders for the launch of ferry service at Kalurghat and sent the relevant contractor for the approval of the ministry to issue work orders. As many as 4 companies participated in the tender. Now it has been sent to the Ministry for approval. After the approval, the construction of two-way approach bridge along with the installation of turnstiles and ferry operation will be started.
