PV Online Report : The students have passed the newly published SSC examination with a record number of GPA-5 in Chittagong Board of Education. Besides, the pass rate was 6.36 percent higher than last year. This year the pass rate is 91.12 percent, whereas last year the pass rate was 84.75 percent. One lakh 44 thousand 550 students have passed this year. Due to the increase in the pass rate, a total of two thousand seats will be increased in the colleges under the Chittagong Board of Education.
Professor Jahedul Haque, College Inspector of Chittagong Education Board, said that the government has taken initiative to increase the number of seats in eight government colleges in the city by about 200. According to the college branch of the Chittagong Board of Education, the number of seats in eight government colleges in the city is 9,300. The number of seats in the science department is 3,265, the number of seats in the humanities department is 2,455 and the number of seats in the business education department is 3,570. At the request of these colleges, about 200 seats will be added in the science, humanities and business education departments. While  asking, to  know the Chittagong Board of Education College Professor Jahedul Haque said, “We will increase the seats in some colleges in view of the demand.” There are 260 colleges under Chittagong Board of Education. We have already received demand from some colleges to increase the number of seats, these demands are being checked and selected. There is no opportunity to increase the number of seats in all colleges.
In view of these demands, the total number of seats will be increased to about two thousand. He added that there are 9,300 seats in 8 government colleges in the city. Apart from this, about 200 seats will be increased. It will be known on January 6 how many seats will be increased in which college and which seats will be increased in which department. There is not much opportunity to increase the seats in the college. Even then, since the pass rate has increased, we are trying to increase some seats.
