PV Online Report : The 24-hour broadcast of Bangladesh Television (BTV) Chittagong Center will start on Sunday (December 19). This activity is being started on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the center. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the broadcasting program through video conference at 3 pm. At 10 am, a colorful rally was held on this occasion with the dignitaries of the city including artists and artisans. Information Minister Hasan Mahmud, Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Bir Bahadur Ushaising, State Minister for Education Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury, Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mohammad Maqbool Hossain, Director General of Bangladesh Television Sohrab Hossain and all the ministers and MPs of Chittagong will be present. The journey of BTV Chittagong Center started on 19 December 1997. An hour and a half program was broadcast from this center.
Twenty years after its inception, the 8-hour satellite broadcasting program started on 31 December 2016. The 9-hour broadcast started from 13 April 2019. The 12-hour broadcast started from January 26, 2020. From 1 July 2019, the program of Chittagong Center started broadcasting abroad through Bangabandhu-1 satellite. The 436-foot-high tower was constructed in September last year at a cost of around Tk 30 crore. The tower can run 12 cable channels and two terrestrial channels. The transmission has been placed next to the tower. The 18-hour program started broadcasting at this center from January 10 this year.
