PV Online Report : The 24-hour broadcast of Bangladesh Television Chittagong Center is starting. The program will be aired day and night on the television station from December 19. Initiative has been taken to broadcast 24 hours on the occasion of Silver Jubilee of Chittagong Television Center.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate the 24-hour program via video conference. The Chittagong Television Center, which started its journey 25 years ago on December 19, 1996 with just one and a half hours of program broadcasting, is being operated as a full fledged television station.
According to the source, the journey of Bangladesh Television Chittagong Center started in 1996 with the aim of promoting education and culture as well as highlighting the soil and people of Chittagong region. On December 19 of that year, only one and a half hours of programming was broadcast as a full-fledged television station. The Chittagong Television Station, which had been in crisis for a long time due to various problems and crises, used to broadcast on a very limited scale. Twenty years after its establishment, the 8-hour satellite broadcasting program started from 31 December 2016 from Chittagong Center. The 9-hour broadcast started from 13 April 2019. The 12-hour program started on January 26, 2020.
From 1 July 2019, the program of Chittagong Center started broadcasting outside the world through Bangabandhu-1 satellite. The construction of the 438-foot or 133.5-meter-high Chittagong Television Tower was completed in September last year at a cost of about Tk 30 crore. The tower can run 12 cable channels and two terrestrial channels. The transmission has been placed next to the tower. BTV, BTV World, Sangsad TV and Chittagong Television Center have been broadcasting with this transmission since September 3 last year. As a result, BTV Chittagong’s programs are being seen as terrestrial all over the country like Chittagong. The program has been airing for 16 hours since January 10.
As a separate station of Bangladesh Television, the program of Chittagong Center is broadcast from all over the country as well as from all over the world. From this center various programs including news, concerts, entertainment programs, talk shows are broadcast. Earlier, calls were made at different times to broadcast the program 24 hours a day from Chittagong center. In particular, those involved in the art and culture of Chittagong demanded an increase in the timing and quality of the event.
