PV Desk :  Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today moved a proposal in the Jatiya Sangsad paying tribute to the greatest Bangali of all time and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman marking his birth centenary.

“Deep respect should be paid to the greatest Bangali of all time and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through a special discussion in the Jatiya Sangsad over his well-decorated political and working life as well as philosophy marking ‘Mujib Borsha’ (Mujib Year),” she said.

The Leader of the House moved the proposal under Article 147 of the Rules of Procedures in the special sitting of the parliament.

The dreamer and architect of independent Bangladesh and unanimous great leader of Bangali Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born at Tungipara in Gopalganj on March 17, 1920, she said.

“He fought throughout his entire life for establishing the rights of Bangali nation as well as attaining political and economical emancipation. [He] embraced jail-oppression and torture, but never compromised with injustice,” continued Sheikh Hasina.

She said: “Our independence has been achieved under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through a bloody war in 1971 following a long struggle and movement of 24 years –language movement from 1947-48 to 1952, formation of Juktafront (United front) in 1954, six-point movement in 1966, Agartala conspiracy case in 1968, mass uprising in 1969 and election in 1970.”
