PV Desk : On the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a ‘Vajrakantha’ sculpture has been erected at Barapol square of Halishahar.
Chattogram City Corporation has installed the 26 feet high sculpture with a base (altar) at a cost of Tk 87 lakh 70 thousand.
The height of the original sculpture is 22 feet. The sculpture is made permanent by casting white cement (RCC), which weighs about 30 tons. Earlier, the original sculpture was made with clay (modeling clay) for about 4 months.
Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin officially inaugurated the sculpture of Bangabandhu on Wednesday (July 29).
The mayor said that the expression of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s famous historical speech has been highlighted in the ‘Vajrakantha’ sculpture. With Bangabandhu’s strong leadership and visionary political wisdom, Bengalis achieved an independent-sovereign country. Today, when Bangladesh is advancing in the field of education, culture, economy, etc., came the centenary of the birth of the great architect of Bangladesh, the brave voice of the time, the father of the nation. The strong hand of the speaking Bangabandhu is a symbol of the unity of the entire Bengali nation.
