PV Desk : A court in Chattogram on Monday placed five young men on a three-day remand in a case filed for gang-raping a college girl in Badurtala area of the city.
Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Al Imran passed the order after police produced them before his court seeking a five-day remand, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (Prosecution) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police.
Those remanded are Md Mohiuddin, 22, son of Mahmudur Rahman Chowdhury of Jongishah Mazar area, Saiful Islam Sakib, 22, son of Sirajul Islam of Hares Shah Mazar Gate area, Ashik Imran, 24, son of Abu Naser from East Jongishah Mazar area, Razbir Hossain Nayan, 22, son of Md Jamal Uddin from Baroipara, and Mosharraf Hossain Akash, 22, son of Anwar Hossain.
On July 7, six youths stormed the house of the victim at Badurtala under Chawkbazar Police Station while she was studying with her tutor.
They brought an allegation of anti-social activities and demanded toll. The attackers also beat the tutor and one of his friends and looted their valuables.
Later, the hoodlums violated the college student one after another and filmed the incident by a mobile phone. They also threatened her with dire consequences if she disclosed it.
Police arrested the five alleged rapists on Friday after the victim filed a case in this regard.
