PV Desk : One ‘drug dealer’ has died in Mymensingh in a ‘shootout’ with police amid the ongoing nationwide ‘war against drugs.’
The man has been identified as 45-year-old Bachchu alias Vebel, a resident of Charpulimari village in Sadar Upazila. Bachchu was named in more than 15 drug cases, said police.
The gunfight took place at Shambhuganj in Sadar Upazila at around 3am on Tuesday, said OC Ashikur Rahman of the detective branch of district police.
Being informed of drug dealers sharing their stuff, police conducted a drive in Shambhuganj. Police retaliated after drug dealers opened fire on them during the raid, said OC Ashikur.
Police took Bachchu with bullet wounds to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where a doctor declared him dead.
“Two constables injured during the incident were treated in hospital. Police recovered 200 yaba pills and four bullet cases from the scene,” he said.
