PV Desk : Military Commander of banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh Abdur Rahman murdered the publisher from Munshiganj Shahjahan Bacchu, police said after the suspect was killed in a reported shootout Thursday (June 28).
“The murder plan was made after taking a residence in rent at Khasmohol area of Sirajdikhan of Munshiganj, three months ago,” said SP Jayedul Alam.
“English daily Observer published a report titled ‘Who is Next Target’ on August 8 in 2015 revealing the risk over Shahjahan Bacchu’s life. Bacchu was murdered following a plan of JMB’s organizational plan,” added the SP.
The law enforcers arranged a press briefing at the office of Munshiganj district Superintendent of Police, around 11:30am.
JMB member Abdur Rahman, 62, the prime accused in Bacchu murder case, was killed in a reported shootout with the police members in Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj early Thursday.
The shootout took place at the Balurchar area of the upazila. On Thursday, Police conducted a drive at a residence in Khasmohol Malurchar area at the early hours of the morning, to detain the aides of Rahman.
