PV Desk : Japan will give Bangladesh about US$4.10 million or 433 million yen in grant-in-aid for human resource development.

Bangladesh and Japan signed an Exchange of Notes and Grant Agreement at the National Economic Council here today.

Economic Relations Division (ERD) Secretary Kazi Shafiqul Azam signed the deals on behalf of the Bangladesh government. Japanese Ambassador in Dhaka Hiroyasu Izumi signed Exchange Notes while Chief Representative at JICA’s local office Takatoshi Nishikata signed the Grant Agreement, said an ERD media release.

“The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS Project)” was launched in 2001 and it will continue up to 2020. Japan provides grant for this project every year.

Officials chosen from BCS cadres and Bangladesh Bank’s first class staff are generally sent to various Japanese universities for a two-year master’s course under this project.
