PV Desk : The 2nd Padma Bridge has been proposed in the 47th national budget for the fiscal year 2018-19.
“The government has planned to construct 2nd Padma Bridge on Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma River. The feasibility study work has begun. The 2nd Padma Bridge will be built on this route in future,” said Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith while placing the budget on Thursday afternoon (June 07).
However, no specific allocation, for 2nd Padma Bridge, was made in the budget.
“Padma Bridge (1st) construction work has been done more than half by our own funding. The government will build up 2nd Padma Bridge in future, which will be financed by Asian Development Bank (ADB). It costs $5 billion dollars,” the finance minister also said
Besides, construction work of 2nd Kanchpur, 2nd Meghna, and, 2nd Gumti Bridges are underway, he said.
