PV Desk : As it is the age of satellite, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said her government is taking preparation for the second satellite- Bangabandhu-2, before the BS-1 becomes obsolete.
The premier said this during her question-answer session of the 21st session of the 10th Jatiya Sangsad on Wednesday (June 6).
“As lifespan of the current satellite is 15 years, it is likely to become dysfunctional after 5-6 years of operation. It takes enough time to prepare a satellite. Therefore, we have started taking preparation. It will take 5-6 years for BS-2 to be prepared,” Sheikh Hasina said.
“Following termination of center time, we will proceed towards satellite-3,” she also said.
Sheikh Hasina said, “The government will continue research in space technology and make best efforts to cope with any new technology and to use them in future.”
Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh government is the owner of Bangabandhu-1 satellite; those who question about its ownership are brainless.
The prime minister said this in reply to a supplementary question of Begum Fazilatunnesa Bappi in the Question-Answer session.
