Gandamara UP Chairman sued over treachery, derogatory comments on PM

PV Desk : Chairman Leyakat Ali of Gandamara Union Parshad under Chattogram’s Banshkhali was sued on charges of treachery and making derogatory remarks on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Awami League leader Abdullah Kabir Liton filed the case with the court of Banshkhali Senior Judicial Magistrate Mainul Islam Wednesday (June 6).

Leyakat Ali, also a BNP leader, made derogatory comments on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and delivered provocative speech in an iftar mahfil at Banshkhali Alaol Degree College Ground on June 4, lawyer of the plaintiff ARM Toksimul Ghani Emon told Banglanews.

Charges were brought against Leyakat Ali under penal code 120 (Kha), 124 (Ka) and 504, he added.

The court has directed Banshkhali Police Station OC (Officer-in-Charge) to take legal action, added the lawyer.
