PV Desk : At least four people, including a woman, were killed and 18 others injured as a Shyamoli Paribahan bus collided with a covered van in Saidabad area of the Sadar upazilla early Saturday.
One of deceased was identified as covered van driver Arif.
Bangabandhu Bridge West Police OC Syed Shahid Alam told Banglanews that the accident occurred around 2:45am when the bus, headed from Dhaka to Gaibandha, was attempting to overtake the covered van.
Both vehicles overturned and fell into highway-side ditches, killing three bus passengers on the spot. Another one died after he had been taken to hospital.
Police and the fire service have rescued the victims and sent the injured to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital.
