PV Desk : At least 15 people were injured in a clash between two Awami League groups during the campaign of boat candidate Rezaul Karim on the occasion of Chittagong City Corporation elections in Tigerpass area of ​​Lalkhanbazar ward of the city.

The injured have been admitted to Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Hospital. The incident took place in Tigerpass Battal area around 5:30 pm on Saturday (January 17).

According to sources, Awami League mayoral candidate Rezaul Karim had a mass rally in Lalkhanbazar area at 5.30 pm. He was to be accompanied by Central Awami League leader Mainuddin Hasan Chowdhury, Nagar Awami League joint general secretary Alauddin Alam and Lalkhan Bazar ward Awami League vice-president Siddique Ahmed. Awami League councilor candidate Abul Hasnat Mohammad in Lalkhan Bazar ward before the guests came.

Belal and Lalkhan Bazar Ward Awami League leader Didarul Alam Masum used to gather their followers. When the two sides face each other, the tension increases. Both sides threw stones at each other. Later involved in the conflict. At least 15 people were injured on both sides.

Khulshi Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Aftab Hossain said the police took control of the situation after receiving information about a dispute between the Belal and Masum groups. Now the situation is normal. Chittagong Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (North) Vijay Basak told the media that additional police were deployed at the spot. The police are ready to handle any situation.
