PV Desk : Former Cox’s Bazar Teknaf Police Station OC (suspended) Pradeep Kumar Das’s bail application has been rejected by a court in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The order was passed by the court of Mahanagar Senior Special Sessions Judge Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman around 11:30 am on Sunday (September 20).
At the same time, the ACC has submitted an application to seize the property of Pradeep Kumar Das.
ACC lawyer Kazi Sanwar Ahmed Lavlu told the media that the court had rejected the bail application of Pradeep Kumar Das in the ACC case. An application to seize his property has been submitted to the court.
Earlier on September 14, the court of Metropolitan Senior Special Sessions Judge Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman ordered the arrest of Pradeep Kumar Das in the ACC case.
On August 23, Pradeep Kumar Das and his wife filed a case against Chumki Karan at the ACC Integrated District Office-1. Riaz Uddin. In the case, an application was filed in the court of Metropolitan Senior Special Sessions Judge Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman on August 26 to show the arrest of Pradeep Kumar Das.
According to the case file, Pradeep Kumar Das and his wife Chumki had acquired assets worth Tk 3,95,5,835 through concealment and bribery and corruption in the asset statement submitted to the ACC against Karan.
In 2016, the ACC started an investigation against Pradeep Kumar Das and his wife Chumki for allegedly acquiring illegal assets.
On April 9, 2019, the ACC directed the two of them to submit the statement of assets within seven working days. On May 12, they submitted separate asset declarations at the ACC Integrated District Office-2.
