PV Online Report : A court has sentenced a man named Abdul Malek alias Shukkur to five years rigorous imprisonment in a drug case filed by the city’s Kotwali police station.
The verdict was handed down at noon on Tuesday by the court of Fourth Additional Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge Shariful Alam Bhunya.
Shukkur is the son of late Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan of Rampur area of Sudharam police station in Noakhali district.
According to court sources, Abdul Malek Prakash Shukkur was arrested on May 11, 2011 from Station Road of Kotwali Police Station. After a search, 65 pieces of yaba were recovered from him. Tapan Kanti Sharma, inspector of the then Narcotics Control Department, Chittagong Metro, filed a case with the Kotwali Police Station.
Omar Fouad, a bench assistant in the court, said the court had sentenced Abdul Malek Prakash Shukkur to five years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Tk 2,000 in a drug case and six months imprisonment without pay.
