According to sources, a project has been taken up to set up a 500-bed hospital, a 100-seat medical college and a 50-seat nursing institute in the Public Private Partnership (PPP) area in the CRB area of ​​the eastern headquarters of Bangladesh Railway. For this, a company called United Enterprise is being given six acres of land in CRB area. The private company will build a hospital and ancillary infrastructure at a cost of around Tk 400 crore. United will implement the project over the next 12 years on an adjacent six-acre site, including an existing railway hospital.
Mohammad Ahsan Jabir, Chief Engineer (Bridge) (East) of Bangladesh Railway and Director of the project, said that United Enterprise has entered into a joint venture with Bangladesh Railway under Public Private Partnership (PPP) on April 26, 2016 under the approval of the Cabinet Committee on Economic (CCEA). An agreement has been signed to build a hospital and a 100-seat medical college. According to the agreement signed on March 18 last year, United Enterprise Limited will build the hospital with its own funds. He said a total of six acres of land in Goalpara area next to CRB Railway’s own hospital would be used in the proposed project.
The people of Chittagong have been blown away by this initiative to establish a hospital in the CRB area. The people of Chittagong are united in not allowing any hospital to be set up in this area famous for its lungs. People from all walks of life in Chittagong have commented that it was not right to decide the location without opposing the establishment of the hospital. They also commented that there could be a hospital anywhere in Chittagong instead of CRB.
Sources said that there is no opportunity in the law to establish a hospital in CRB area. If the conventional law is followed, there is no opportunity to build not only hospitals but also any kind of facilities in CRB. Daily Detail Plan (DAP) and Master Plan of Chittagong were examined by Daily Azadi. The area from Batali Hill to CRB has been identified as a Heritage Zone by these two laws on the development of Chittagong metropolis. There is no legal sanction to make any such installation here. The Chittagong Development Authority has also said that there is no opportunity to approve the construction of any kind of infrastructure in this vast area of ​​the city.
Regarding the matter, Chittagong Development Authority Chairman M Zahirul Alam Dobhas said that the railways and ports do not seek approval from the CDA to set up any kind of installation in their place. They build their own infrastructure with the approval of the Department of Architecture.
Kazi Hasan bin Shams, chief engineer of the Chittagong Development Authority, said no approval would be given for the establishment of a hospital in the CRB area. The Chief Architect of the Department of Architecture seeks written opinion from the regulatory body of the area before approving any project. The Department of Architecture sought a written opinion from the CDA on the infrastructure of any government agency in Chittagong. The CDA must also be consulted on the approval of this hospital.
Noting that the CDA would not approve the hospital, Kazi Hassan bin Shams said the CDA did not have the opportunity to approve the construction of any infrastructure in the CRB area as per the terms of the DAP and the master plan. CDA Chief Engineer Kazi Hassan bin Shams told Daily Azadi yesterday, ‘It is included in our master plan and city details area plan as a heritage zone. Protected areas. ‘He also mentioned that there is no opportunity to do anything commercial in the protected areas.

Mentioning that there are many places to build a hospital in Chittagong, Kazi Hasan bin Shams said, “Come to us, we will show you the place.” But there is no opportunity to do hospitalization in CRB. Mentioning that there are many places for railways in Pahartali, Kazi Hasan bin Shams said that the road network there is very good. There are also many places along the Outer Ring Road.
